Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Culture and Media Parliamentary Committee announced its success in obtaining the approvals to allocate five million IQD as a grant to pay for expenses of medical treatment for several ill artists and poets.

The Head of the Committee, MP Ali al-Shalah reported in statement to IraqiNews.com on Wednesday that ”The committee has succeeded in obtaining the approvals to allocate five million Iraqi Diners to contribute in providing medical treatment for the Iraqi artists and poets, such as the great poet Mohammed Ali al-Khafaji, the poet Hadi al-Rubaie, the artist Shukri al-Akedi and many others who will be nominated later,” pointing out that ”We are trying to find a mechanism to support the cultural figures.”

The statement added that ”The committee intends to develop the grant of the artists and journalists and we will discuss the grant in a special session in order to figure out resolutions and recommendations that can contribute in succeeding the grant.”

The Iraqi intellectuals and artist are suffering from being neglected by the Iraqi government while many Iraqi poets suffer from difficulty to pay for the expense of their medical treatment in case they caught diseases. \
