Sulaymaniya witnesses burial ceremony of Anfal victims

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Sulaymaniya province witnesses, today, Tuesday, the funeral ceremony of burying (470) dead bodies of Anfal massacre victims, who were found in a mass grave in Diwaniya province of southern Iraq. The website of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan cited “This Tuesday morning witnessed measures of transferring the dead bodies from Sulaymaniya city to Chamchamal district to start the burial ceremony in the cemetery of the district.” The ceremony of receiving the victims’ bodies was attended by each of the Vice President of Kurdistan Region, Kosart Rasoul Ali, Kurdistan Region PM Nejirvan Barzani and his Deputy Imad Ahmed, Kurdistan Region Parliament Speaker Arsalan Bayez in addition to a large number of officials. It is mentioned that the former regime launched in the eighties of the last century a military campaign named (Anfal), against Kurdistan Region, during which chemical weapons was used to kill thousands of the region’s civilians.
