Will withdraw confidence if national conference fails – Al-Iraqiya

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A Middle Bloc MP excluded that the national conference will solve the present political crisis, pointing out that “it the conference failed, his bloc will withdraw confidence from Premier Nouri al-Maliki”. MP Khalid al-Alwani, whose bloc is affiliated to al-Iraqiya Bloc, issued a statement, received by IraqiNews.com, pointing out the postponement of the preparatory sessions for the conference till next Sunday, as well “leaving Vice-President Tariq al-Hashimi’s case to the judicial system, provided neutrality prevails”. He stressed that al-Iraqiya Bloc will continue its suspension of parliament and cabinet sessions till the State of Law accepts the conditions made by it, pointing that “if the conference is failed, al-Iraqiya will withdraw confidence from Maliki”. Alwani confirmed that meetings were held with Kurdish Alliance, the Higher Islamic Council and Ahrar bloc to form a political majority bloc to withdraw confidence from Maliki and establish a majority government”, refusing Maliki’s statement that he will form the majority government, because “most of the blocs that agreed to Arbil agreement want now to withdraw confidence, if the national conference failed”. Premier Maliki decided to withdraw confidence from his deputy Saleh al-Mutlaq, a leading member in al-Iraqiya Bloc, for describing his as a “dictator”. Furthermore, Vice-President Tariq al-Hashimi, a leading member of al-Iraqiya Bloc, was charged with terrorism, in addition to calls made by Salah al-Din, Diala and Anbar provinces to establish regions instead of province. Iraqiya bloc suspended its participation in parliament and cabinet sessions. On the other hand, Baghdad and a number of provinces were victims of terrorist attacks that resulted in hundreds of casualties, mostly civilians. Other problems of selecting security posts candidates and the differences between Kurdistan government and Baghdad on the implementation of Article 140 of the constitution were among the problems that stirred  chaos in the Iraqi political arena.
