10 AQI members nabbed in Diala

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: Ten al-Qaeda-in-Iraq (AQI) members on Monday were captured during raids near Baaquba city, according to a local police chief. “During a military operation in southern Bahraz district (5 km south of Baaquba), 10 al-Qaeda members who are wanted by the judicial authorities were arrested in accordance with Article IV of the Terrorism Law,” Staff Maj. Gen. Abdulhussein al-Shamri told Iraqi News. “A cache containing mortars was found during the operation,” the official noted. “The force has also found three swords with blood stains inside a main stronghold of the self-styled Islamic State of Iraq,” Shamri added. The so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq’ is an armed organization that was set up in 2006. Most prominent of its groups is al-Qaeda in Iraq, led by al-Baghdadi.
