2 gunmen nabbed near Makhmour

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Two gunmen believed to belong to the so-called al-Naqshabandiya group were arrested during a security operation near Makhmour district, an Iraqi army source said on Tuesday. “In light of intelligence tips, Iraqi army forces today conducted a search raid in Dayouzani village (30 km west of Makhmour) and arrested two gunmen who belong to al-Naqshabandiya group,” the source told IraqiNews.com. Investigations are currently underway, the source noted, providing no further details. Al-Naqshabandiya is a group that introduces itself as an Islamic spiritual dogmatic organization, but its ideologies changed into ones of armed struggle against the occupation forces. The disputed Makhmour district is administratively affiliated with Ninewa province. It is 68 km southwest of Arbil city, which lies 349 km northeast of the capital Baghdad. SS (P) 1
