35 dead, 127 wounded in bloody day

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A total of 35 people were killed and 127 were wounded in a series of bombing attacks in Iraq on Thursday. The attacks came before holding the National Conference and the Arab summit in Baghdad late March. In al-Kadhimiya city, northern Baghdad was the bloodiest attack, when six persons were killed and 15 were wounded in a car bomb explosion in front of a restaurant in al-Muheet region, while six policemen were killed and three were wounded in an armed attack in al-Salehiya region, central Baghdad. In al-Yarmouk region, western Baghdad, car crammed with explosives left two civilians dead and six wounded in al-Fares al-Arabi square. One civilian was killed and 7 were injured in a third car bomb blast in al-Karada region, central Baghdad. Two improvised explosive devices went off simultaneously in Abu Dashier region, southern Baghdad, killing two and wounding 12. In al-Sidiya neighborhood, southern Baghdad, two bombs killed 2 civilians and wounded 10. In Salah al-Din, in northern Iraq, four car bombs exploded simultaneously in al-Dujail, Baiji and Balad region, killing 10 and wounding 33, including Colonel Mohammad Yassin, chief of checkpoints police in Balad.Security authorities imposed curfew in Tikrit, Balad and Baiji as a result of the attack. In Diala, A suicide bomber blew a car loaded with explosives targeting al-Sharqi police station in central Baaquba.One civilian was killed and three wounded in the attack. An explosive charge exploded near the house of a policeman while he was leaving, killing him in al-Katoun region, while two people were killed and another one was wounded in an armed attack against a family in al-Hashimiyat region in Khales. Three persons were wounded in Kanaan district, east of Baaquba, as a result of detonating three houses of deserted families. In Kirkuk, ten people were wounded when a booby-trapped car exploded near al-Hajja Sabriya mosque in central Kirkuk.Another car bomb exploded in al-Taseen market, leaving eight casualties. Two blasts took place targeting two communications towers of AsiaCell in al-Quweisat and al-Shalalat regions, eastern Mosul, and left no casualties. SH (TR)/SR 2572
