6 suspected AQI members arrested – MNF

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Multi-National Force troops detained six suspected members of al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) in security operations conducted in Baghdad and Mosul cities during the past 48 hours, according to a statement by the MNF on Thursday. “The six are suspected of involvement in terrorist operations in different areas of Baghdad and Mosul,” read the statement received by IraqiNews.com. “Coalition forces arrested in Baghdad on Wednesday a wanted man believed to be an aide of AQI leaders while two other suspects were arrested in a security operation in al-Tarimiya area, (45 km) northern Baghdad,” the statement added. “In another operation conducted on Thursday in al-Ramadi, Anbar province, two suspected AQI operatives were arrested while another one was captured in an operation in Mosul that targeted dismantling AQI networks making car bomb and improvised explosive device,” it noted.
