94 displaced families return to Diala’s Katoun neighborhood

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: Security forces in Diala secured the return of 94 displaced families to their original dwelling places in Baaquba, according to the province’s police chief on Thursday. “Today (Sept. 10), 94 displaced families returned their homes in al-Katoun neighborhood, (2 km) west of Baaquba, once considered a stronghold of Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) network in Diala,” Maj. General Abdulhussein al-Shimari told Iraqi News. “A large number of families had to flee their homes in different areas of the province in 2006 and 2007, when security conditions in the province were deteriorating,” he added.
