Al-Iraqiya Coalition shoulders PM Maliki with security for Turkomen in Kirkuk

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Al-Iraqiya Coalition, led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, has shouldered Iraq ’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, with responsibility to achieve security for the Turkomen in northern Iraq ’s oil-rich Province of Kirkuk .   “The explosions and abductions that took place in Kirkuk Province recently, last of which was the killing of a doctor on Friday, have proved that the Turkomen are facing continuous violations in Kirkuk Province, represented in kidnapping and killing doctors in particular,” al-Iraqiya stressed in a statement on Saturday.   “We call on Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, at his capacity as Acting Interior Minister, to burden vocational land moral responsibility to achieve security for Kirkuk’s Turkomen and to restore stability for the Province,” the statement, copy of which was received by IraqiNews.com news agency, reported.   Kirkuk ’s Police Director, Lt-Brigadier, Sarhad Qader, had announced on Friday that a group of unknown gunmen had shot dead a doctor, carrying Lt-Brigadier rank in the former Iraqi Army, close to his house in southern Kirkuk .   Noteworthy is that the said incident was not the only incident of its type in Kirkuk , that witnessed several attacks on the Kirkuki society, especially doctors.   The oil-rich city of Kirkuk is 280 km to the northeast of Baghdad .   SKH (IT) 7505
