(IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Security Committee of the local government in Baghdad revealed that the first batch of sniffer dogs — which are trained to detect explosives and car bombs — will be deployed in the next few days. It’s around 410 dogs of US origin.

The security committee member, Mohammed al-Rubaie said, “The dogs deal was sanctioned in the previous session of parliament, but it was only put into effect after a delegation from the local government and the Ministry of Interior went to America to book the first batch of dogs in coordination with the executive company.”

Rubaie added, “Once the dogs arrive in Iraq, they will be distributed on key areas to reduce car bombs and explosions that affect the safety of the neighborhoods of Baghdad.”

He also confirmed that the dogs are of good quality and have been trained according to international specifications and are able to detect explosives.
