Anti-Terrorism forces apprehend IS Leader in central Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews) War Media Cell announced, on Monday, that Iraqi Anti-Terrorism forces apprehended one of the Islamic State’s leaders, in central Kirkuk.

The cell said in a press statement that the 2nd Special Operations Command (Anti-Terrorism squad of Kirkuk) managed to apprehend one of the Islamic State’s leaders.

Furthermore, the statement added that the security forces arrested the terrorist in al-Wehda neighborhood, in central Kirkuk. The forces also seized a large quantity of weapons and important documents from the terrorist.

Earlier today, Iraqi security forces killed 14 Islamic State’s militants by a security operation in Kirkuk Province.

It is noteworthy that Iraq witnessed a surge of violence with the emergence of Islamic State radical group in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
