Bank heist foiled in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Joint Iraqi army and police forces on Sunday foiled an attempt to rob Al-Istiqlal (Independence) Bank in central Basra and arrested 12 of the bank’s guards who were involved in the attempt, according to a source from Basra police media office. “The guards tried to break into the Bank’s safe using a welding machine,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “Those involved are currently being interrogated,” he added.
