Blast hits US patrol in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: A roadside bomb went off on Saturday targeting a U.S. patrol in northern Basra, said a local security source. “The blast occurred near the building of the Border and Customs Command in northern Basra province,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. He noted that the blast damaged a U.S. military vehicle. The source did not mention further details, but noted that U.S. forces sealed off the area after the attack. No comments have been so far made by the U.S. side regarding the attack. The oil-rich city of Basra lies 590 km south of Baghdad. MH (P)/SR 3
