Bomb blast kills, wounds 5 police elements south of Baghdad

( Baghdad – A source within the police force in Baghdad province said on Saturday, that five elements of the Federal Police had been either killed or injured in a bomb blast south of Baghdad.

The source said in a statement obtained by, “An explosive device went off targeting a patrol belonging to the Federal Police in the area of al-Tawiytha southeast of Baghdad, resulting in the death of one of its elements and wounding four others, in addition to inflicting material losses upon the patrol.”

The source, who requested to remain anonymous, added, “A security force rushed to the area of the incident and transferred the injured to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and the dead body to the forensic medicine authority.”
