Border forces transfer ballot boxes in Najaf

NAJAF/ IraqiNews.com: Iraqi premier Nouri al-Maliki has assigned border forces in Najaf to transfer ballot boxes to counting centers after the end of voting, due to violations that occurred during the special voting day, the 5 th area border forces commander said on Saturday. “Border forces are exclusively assigned to transfer the boxes, without any interference from police or army forces,” General Hussein Awez al-Ghazali told IraqiNews.com news agency. “This measure comes to prevent violations like those happened on special voting day,” he said. “On special voting day, transferring ballot boxes was delayed by six hours, and police forces moved in long convoys that can be easily targeted,” he added.
