(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – 32 members of the Islamic state group were either killed or wounded in a blast while preparing a booby-trapped vehicle in western Kirkuk, Al Sumaria News reported on Saturday.
Al Sumaria stated, “This morning, a vehicle exploded while a number of ISIS members were equipping it with explosives in the industrial neighborhood area, in Hawija district (55 km southwest of Kirkuk), killing 10 members of the extremist group and wounding 22 others.”
“The ISIS started to prepare booby-trapped vehicles, in order to be deployed in different areas with the approaching battles to liberate the district,” Al Sumaria added. “The number of the ISIS members in Hawija retreated after a large number of them escaped from the district,” Al Sumaria explained.
The areas south and west of Kirkuk were captured by the Islamic state group in June 2014, and these areas include Hawija, al-Zab, Riyad, Abassi and Rashad, while the estimated number of besieged familes in these areas exceeds 5000 families.
