Ceremony to receive Wassit security file starts

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The ceremony to receive the security file of Wassit province from the Multinational forces started on Wednesday morning with the attendance of the National Security Adviser Muwafaq al-Rubaei. Ten days ago, Georgian and Kazakh forces had withdrew the remainder of their troops in Iraq stationed in Wassit. Thirteen out of eighteen Iraqi provinces have received their security file from the Multinational forces. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad , is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra . Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy.
