Curfew lifted in Samarra

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: A total curfew was lifted in Samarra a few hours after it had been declared in the city, a local police source said on Thursday. “Security forces in Samarra lifted a curfew on traffic movement and pedestrians, which was announced earlier this morning in all parts of the city following reports about the presence of a car bomb,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. Other sources told IraqiNews.com that the curfew was declared in light of a cabinet decision to remove Salah al-Din Governor Matshar Hussein Aleewi from his position. Samarra lies 120 km north of Baghdad; while Ramadi, the capital of Salah al-Din, lies 175 km north of the Iraqi capital. SS (P) 1
