Explosives found west of Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Police forces on Monday found an amount of explosives in the west of Mosul city, a security source said. “A police force found an amount of explosives in Sinjar district, which were prepared for explosion during the upcoming provincial councils elections,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The explosives were inside a bag and buried underground,” he added, noting that the forces found the explosives after receiving intelligence information. Sinjar, 120 km northwest of Mosul, is inhabited by Yazidis, a religious minority whose followers are generally situated in northern Iraq. Some 350,000 Yazidis live in villages around Mosul, 405 km north of Baghdad. SH (P)/SR 1
