Gunman arrested for killing peshmerga fighters

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: A combined Iraqi army and police force arrested a gunman in a village in the area of Qarat Tabba, Khanaqin district, on charges of killing nine Kurdish peshmerga fighters, a local official security source said. “The force conducted a security raid in the village of Awwal, Qarat Tabba district, (25 km) northwestern Khanaqin, arresting a gunman on charges of killing nine peshmerga fighters in the area,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. The peshmerga is also called the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Guard Force. “The detainee, a local resident in the area, confessed to the charges pressed against him during the course of investigations,” he said, adding the confessions will be aired on local TV stations.
