Hand grenade wounds 9 in Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Nine persons on Sunday were wounded in a hand grenade attack in downtown Mosul city, a local security source said. “Nine persons, including two policemen, were wounded when gunmen threw a hand grenade at a police patrol vehicle in al-Saa’a area, downtown Mosul,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “The wounded suffered only minor injuries, and left the hospital after receiving treatment,” the source added. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. The original city of Mosul stands on the west bank of the Tigris River, opposite the ancient biblical city of Nineveh on the east bank, but the metropolitan area has now grown to encompass substantial areas on both banks, with five bridges linking the two sides.
