Nineveh (IraqiNews) Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced, on Monday, that its forces apprehended two members of the Islamic State group, south of Mosul.

In a press statement, the ministry said that the Directorate of Hammam al-Alil Police forces of the Nineveh Police Command, based on arrest warrants issued by the judiciary and through the cooperation of citizens, managed to apprehend two members of the Islamic State terrorist.

The arrested IS militants were members of the so-called Jund al-Khilafa (Soldiers of the Caliphate), the statement added.

It further explained that the terrorists were apprehended in the village of al-Salaha, south of Mosul.

It is noteworthy that in 14 September 2014, Leader of Jund al-Khilafah, Khaled Abu-Suleiman, announced the group’s split from al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, and pledges allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
