Iranian arrested in Khanaqin for illegal entry

DIALA / Iraqi security forces on Sunday arrested an Iranian northeast of the city of Baaquba for illegal entering Iraqi lands on Sunday, according to a local security source in Diala. “An Iranian person was detained in the area of Nada, al-Saadiya, Khanaqin district, (155 km) northeast of Baaquba, for illegally entering Iraqi territories,” the source told news agency. Khanaqin is one of the areas subject to dispute between the central government in Baghdad and the semi-autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan Region. “The Iranian national resided in a house in the area without the previous knowledge of security agencies,” the source added, not giving further details.
