Iraqi officer’s detention by U.S. Army, violation to Iraq-US Agreement, Wassit spokesman says

  WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Southern Iraq’s Wassit Province Council has said on Friday that the detention of an Iraqi Army officer by the U.S. forces in the Province had been a “violation to the Security Agreement, signed between Iraq and the United States .”   “The detention by the U.S. forces of an Iraqi Army officer on Thursday, without participation by the Iraqi forces was a clear violation of the Security Agreement between Baghdad and Washington ,” Wassit Council’s spokesman, Mahmoud Abdul-Ridha told IraqiNews.com news agency.   He said the Council “announces its condemnation for the said irresponsible measure, taken by the U.S. forces, and demands Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, to interfere personally, at his capacity as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expecting the Prime Minister’s response to be clear.”   A U.S. Army force had launched an operation of inspection in the house of Iraqi Army Major, Mu’alla Jassim and arrested him in Dujeily township, 18 km to the south of Kut, the center of Wassit Province , 180 km to the southeast of Baghdad .   SKH (IT)   774
