Iraqi Prime Minister’s Security Director & Advisor, summoned by Parliament

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The security director and the security adviser of Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, are expected to be summoned by the Iraqi Parliament in order to investigate the escape of prisoners from a prison in southern Iraq’s city of Basra.   “The Parliament’s session today (Monday) shall witness the summoning of the Prime Minister’s Security Director and Security Adviser, within its Security & Defense Committee, to complete investigation about the said subject and to prepare the final report, that would be raised to the Parliament’s Speaker and other MP’s,” Legislature of the National Coalition, Suzan al-Saad said.   Thirteen al-Qaeda defendants have managed to escape from Basra’s Presidential Palace’s prison on Jan. 14, 2011, despite strict security measures, according to Legislature Hussein Taleb, who pointed out that the defendants had confessed to having implemented several “terrorist acts.”   SKH (TS)/SR 569
