Issawi gives details of his assassination attempt

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Aboud al-Issawi, of the State of Law Coalition assured that the gunmen who attempted to assassinate him on Friday night were residents of the same area of the attack.

He mentioned in a statement to IraqiNews.com that ”The gunmen who were traveling by two vehicles blocked the road in front of my motorcade near the cement factory in Kufa district within Najaf province, through setting an ambush and started shooting,” noting that “I have survived because I was on a civilian vehicle.”

MP Issawi continued saying that ”My guards clashed with the gunmen who managed to escape.”

The MP pointed out that ”The investigation revealed that the gunmen who participated in the assassination attempt were residents of the same area near the incident scene and the investigations are continued to capture the attackers.”

The media office of MP, Aboud al-Issawi, issued a statement on Saturday declaring that MP Issawi survived an assassination attempt on Friday evening.
