Jordanian official: Iraq closes border crossings with Jordan until further notice

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Jordanian official source revealed on Thursday that the Iraqi authorities closed the border crossings with Jordan until further notice.

A Jordanian news agency quoted the source as saying, “The Iraqi authorities informed the Jordanian counterpart about the Iraqi government’s decision; the closure of the border crossings with Jordan until further notice.”

The source added that “the passengers and drivers, who are wishing to travel to Iraq are pending for the issuance of a new decision of the Iraqi authorities to re-open its border with Jordan.”

  1. Iraq closed its border to deprive ISIS militants of taxes they impose on cargo trucks who must drive through ISIS held territory to reach Jordan.
