Justice ministry releases 155 prisoners

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi justice ministry’s reformatory department on Thursday released 155 prisoners in Baghdad and other provinces, according to a department spokesman. “Some 118 prisoners were released from Baghdad’s central jail, two from Badosh jail in Mosul and 13 from al-Mina’a in Basra,” the spokesman told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Also, nine were released from Thi-Qar prison, six from Diala jail, two from Babel, three from the Muthanna jail, in addition to two prisoners from Missan and Sousa jails in Sulaimaniya,” he added. He said that the prisoners were released after they were acquitted before Iraqi courts over lack of sufficient evidence to condemn them. The Iraqi reformatory department has twenty-nine jails all over Iraqi provinces, including three for women in the provinces of Baghdad, Thi-Qar and al-Muthanna. SH (P) 2
