Kurdish Peshmerga forces fire artillery to repel ISIS attack southern Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) On Saturday, a security source in Kirkuk province said, that a number of ISIS militants have been either killed or injured during an artillery fire by the Kurdish Peshmerga forces in southern Kirkuk.

The source informed IraqiNews, “The ISIS group militants conducted an attack on the village of al-Wehda and its surroundings in Daquq district, located 35 km south of Kirkuk,” adding that, “The Kurdish Peshmerga forces have responded to the attack by firing artillery shells into ISIS sites, inflicting casualties among the group in an ongoing battle.”

“Security forces have also recorded ISIS movements in al-Shamsiyah area and Mariam Bik village,” the source said.
