Last 10 weeks less violent – U.S. commander

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Chief Commander of the Multi-National Forces (MNF) in Iraq on Wednesday said that the last 10 weeks witnessed a large reduction in violence throughout Iraq compared to the previous five years. “Less than 100 attacks occurred during the last 10 weeks,” Lieutenant General Lloyd Austin said in a press conference in Baghdad. “This comes as a result of an increase in Iraqi security forces’ abilities, and the combined work with the MNF ,” he added. He stressed that the United States government is committed to supporting Iraq’s government and people, according to the Iraqi-U.S. strategic pact. MH (P)/SR 1
