Man found dead in Tigris River

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: An unknown body belonging to a man in his thirties on Sunday was found in the Tigris River near Samarra city, according to a local police source. “Patrolmen in al-Haweesh neighborhood, 4 km northwest of Samarra, pulled an unidentified body from the Tigris River,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The body bore signs of gunshot wounds to the head and chest,” the source noted. The body belongs to a 35-year-old man, the source explained, adding that his hands were tied behind his back. Samarra lies 120 km north of Baghdad; while Tikrit, the capital city of Salah al-Din, lies 175 km north of Baghdad. SS (P) 1
