al-Qaeda leader with death sentence was mastermind of Khalis Prison escape says PC chairman

(IraqiNews.com) Diyala – The Diyala provincial council security committee revealed on Tuesday that a leader in al-Qaeda who was sentenced to death was the mastermind of the events of Khalis prison that occurred a few days ago, pointing to the capture of 50% of the escapees from the prison.

The head of the committee Sadiq Husseini said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “The initial investigations on the bloody events that hit Khalis prison on Friday evening have provided clear evidence that a leader in al-Qaeda who’s sentenced to death and detained in the prison is the mastermind and planner for those events.”
