Military policeman shot in Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi sergeant on Wednesday was wounded when his patrol vehicle was attacked by gunmen in western Mosul city. “On Wednesday, an Iraqi army patrol vehicle was attacked by unknown gunmen in 17 Tammuz neighborhood, western Mosul,” an Iraqi army source told IraqiNews.com. “A sergeant was wounded in the attack and taken to a hospital for treatment,” the source noted. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. The original city of Mosul stands on the west bank of the Tigris River, opposite the ancient biblical city of Nineveh on the east bank, but the metropolitan area has now grown to encompass substantial areas on both banks, with five bridges linking the two sides.
