MNF start setting up joint security center in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: The spokesman for the Multinational forces in southern Iraq said that his forces started on Monday setting up a joint security center in western Basra. “Our forces started setting up a joint security center in al-Asmaei region in western Basra,” Major Bill Young told IraqiNews.com. Britain retains 4,100 troops, stationed in the British base at the Basra International Airport, 25 km in the northwestern part of the city, after they withdrew from the presidential palaces in September 2009. The oil-rich port city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SH (P) 1
