Neighborhood mayor gunned down in eastern Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: The mayor of a neighborhood in Mosul was killed by unknown gunmen in the east of the city, a security source from Ninewa’s police said on Saturday. “Today, two gunmen shot down the mayor of Adan neighborhood at al-Tameem intersection, eastern Mosul,” the source told IraqiNews.com, providing no further details. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. The original city of Mosul stands on the west bank of the Tigris River, opposite the ancient biblical city of Nineveh on the east bank, but the metropolitan area has now grown to encompass substantial areas on both banks, with five bridges linking the two sides.
