Norway plans to send 200 troops to Iraq

(IraqiNews.com) The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced, that Norway will send about 200 troops and coaches to support the international coalition forces in Iraq and the US mission in Afghanistan.

The official spokesman for the US Department of Defense, John Kirby said in a press release followed by IraqiNews.com, “The Norwegian minister confirmed—in a telephone conversation with US counterpart, Chuck Hagel—his country’s support of about 120 soldiers to Iraq and 75 coaches and specialists to support the US mission in Afghanistan.”

Kirby also said that the Norwegian minister praised the “smooth and beneficial cooperation between the US Central Command and the Norwegian team planning”.

On the other hand, the Norwegian minister confirmed that the Norwegian special forces have gained good experience in Afghanistan that can now be applied in Iraq.”
