Peshmerga fighter killed in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: A Peshmerga fighter on Sunday was shot down by unknown gunmen in Kirkuk city, a local police chief said. “This evening, unknown gunmen opened fire on a Peshmerga member near a restaurant in al-Mas area, northwestern Kirkuk city,” Brig. Sarhad Qadir told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The member was seriously wounded and died later in the hospital,” the official noted. “The gunmen have fled to an unknown destination,” the official added, providing no further details. Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS (P) 1
