Police arrest dangerous wanted man in Wassit

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: The national investigation and information police on Wednesday arrested a dangerous wanted man during a security raid in eastern Wassit, a security source said. “The police arrested the wanted man who is believed to be involved in implementing killing and kidnapping operations in the province,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “The operation was waged in Anwar al-Sadr region in eastern Kut,” he added, noting that the operation was based on intelligence information. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad, is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra. Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy. Prior to 1976 it was known as Kut Province. SH (P) 1
