Policeman killed, 3 injured in blast in Ninewa

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi policemen has been killed and three others wounded in an explosive charge blast, planted on the side of the road connecting northern Nineveh’s Talaafar town and the city of Mosul, a Ninewa Province’s police source said, adding that clashes broke out between the police and armed men after the explosion. “An explosive charge, planted by unknown gunmen at Saboniya area, 30 km to the east of Talaafar town, on the main road connecting the town with Mosul city, on a police patrol, killing a policeman and wounding three others,” the police source said, adding that “the victims injuries had been serious and they were driven to Dohuk hospitals for treatment.” The source said that “clashes took place between the police and the unknown gunmen after the explosion.” Talaafar town is 60 km to the northwest of Mosul, the capital of Ninewa Province, 405 km to the north of Baghdad.
