Prisoners set fire to Baghdad central jail

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Prisoners in the Baghdad central jail (Abu Ghraib) set fire to the jail during riots flared up late Thursday, media official of the Iraqi justice ministry said. “Prisoners in the Baghdad central jail started riots and acts of violence at 12:00pm on Thursday (Sept. 10), without casualties,” the official told Iraqi News. “The jail’s authority started to take security measures and put out the fire,” he added. A source had said earlier that one prisoner was killed and 40 others were wounded in the riots. SH (P) 1
