Provincial council deputy chief escapes assassination attempt

SALAH Al-DIN / IraqiNews.com: The deputy head of the Salah al-Din provincial council has survived an attempt on his life when an explosive device targeted his motorcade in Samarra, a local police source said on Sunday. “Today, an explosive device hit the motorcade of the deputy head of Salah al-Din’s provincial council, Khaled al-Daraji, near the ancient al-Aasheq Palace (5 km east of Samarra),” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. One of the security guards was wounded in the blast, which caused damage to two vehicles of the motorcade, the source pointed out.
