Robbers captured in Hilla

BABEL / IraqiNews.com: Security forces captured an armed robbery gang of three persons, including two policemen, in central Hilla city on Friday, according to Babel’s police chief. “A raid was conducted today (Oct. 2) on the houses of the gang members in central Hilla upon intelligence tip-offs about their involvement in armed robbery operations,” Maj. General Fadel Raddad said in a press conference attended by Iraqi News correspondent. “The detainees have confessed to armed robberies on houses and money exchange offices, the recent of them was the robbery of $30,000 and 50 million Iraqi dinars from an exchange office on al-Arbaeen street, central Hilla, next week,” he said. Raddad expressed regret that policemen were involved in these operations, noting “the law applies to everyone without exception”. Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
