Security forces begin extensive military operation to liberate Khalidiya Island

(IraqiNews.com) Anbar – Khalidiya council in Anbar province announced on Sunday, that the security forces has started a major a military operation to liberate Khalidiya Island east of Ramadi, noting that the Air Force bombed a number of ISIS sites in the island.

The head of the Council Ali Daoud said in an interview for IraqiNews.com: “The security forces began an extensive¬†military operation with the participation of the Air Force Flight for the liberation of Khalidiya Island (23 km east of Ramadi) from ISIS control”.

Daoud added that “the military operation was launched from the Japanese Bridge on the international highway towards Khalidiya Island. Now, there are battles in the areas of Abu Shajl, Abu Saroot and Albu Shihab in the island,” adding that, “there is a progress in the military operation.”
