Security forces free Mkeshifah area, south of Tikrit

(IraqiNews.com) On Saturday, a source in Samarra Operations Command revealed that the security forces managed to free the entire area of Mkeshifah in Saladin Province from the control of the elements of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Iraq.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com that “the security force of the army and the support from the Army Aviation and shields managed to free Mkishifiya area (8 km south of Tikrit), fully from militants of ISIL, after killing scores of them.”

The source, who asked not to be identified, said that “an engineering unit is currently clearing the area (houses and roads) of booby-traps.”

On Saturday morning, a source in the leadership of Samarra Operations Command said that the security force from the army and the elite forces, reinforced with tanks and air support advanced toward Tikrit from four positions to release it from the organization of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Iraq.
