Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) A local source informed that the so-called Islamic State’s official of the Diwan of mosques in Nineveh Province was killed during clashes, west of Mosul, Alsumaria News reported on Thursday.

The source said, “The Islamic State’s official of the Diwan of mosques in Nineveh Province was killed, along with his son and one of his aides, during clashes with the security forces in the vicinity of Wadi Hajar, west of Mosul.”

“The majority of the Islamic State’s leaders of Wilayat Ninewa are from Wadi Hajar, which considers an important stronghold of the group,” the source added on condition of anonymity.

Noteworthy, forces from Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) stormed into the area of Wadi Hajar, yesterday, to liberate it from the Islamic State’s grip.
