Security sources says 50 Christian families flees Mosul

NINEWA/IraqiNews.com: A Ninewa security source on Wednesday said 50 Christian families fled Mosul in wake of a wave of killings targeting the religious minority in the northern city of Mosul. “25 Christian families left their houses in Mosul on Wednesday and then followed by 50 families on Thursday heading to town of Talkeef, Talsaqif, Batnaya, al-Qush for fear of being targeted by armed groups,” a Ninewa security source told IraqiNews.com. For his side, Brig. Khalid Abdelsattar, spokesman for Ninewa Operation Command, told IraqiNews.com “the official records indicated five Christian individuals were killed in the past days. He noted “no Christian individuals reported to official authorities he had been threatened”, but he conceded “it might be one to two displacement cases took place though they had not reported to authorities to provide them with security”. “Terrorism has taken aim at all Iraqis and Christians, like all people, are targeted by terrorism and armed groups,” the spokesman stressed.
