Sticky IED wounds 2 in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: A sticky improvised explosive device went off in front of a house in Kirkuk province, wounding two civilians, a source from Kirkuk police operations room said on Tuesday. “An explosive charge stuck to a pick-up truck detonated at nearly 10:30 a.m. today in front of a house in al-Thawra neighborhood (65 km southwest of Kirkuk city),” the source told IraqiNews.com. Two civilians were injured in the blast and were transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment, he added. Kirkuk, 250 km (156 miles) north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, sits on the ruins of a 5,000-year-old settlement. Because of the strategic geographical location of the city, Kirkuk was the battle ground for three empires, Assyria, Babylonia and Media which controlled the city at various times. SS (P) 1
