Talafar vehicle curfew lifted

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A curfew on vehicles in Ninewa’s Talafar has been lifted three days after it was imposed to curb violence in the district, a senior security source said on Thursday. On Monday, an Iraqi army source said that the security apparatus in Talafar district had imposed a curfew on vehicles in light of intelligence reports about the entrance of two car bombs into the district. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. The original city of Mosul stands on the west bank of the Tigris River, opposite the ancient biblical city of Nineveh on the east bank, but the metropolitan area has now grown to encompass substantial areas on both banks, with five bridges linking the two sides.
