Tight security in Mosul on Army Day

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Tight security measures have been put in place in Mosul city ahead of a military parade on Army Day, a security source said on Tuesday. “A large military parade will be held this morning on the anniversary of the Iraqi Army Day,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. A vehicle curfew has been imposed in some areas in the city, the source added. The first military unit of the Iraqi army, known as Mousa al-Kadhem Brigade, was formed on January 6, 1921. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. The original city of Mosul stands on the west bank of the Tigris River, opposite the ancient biblical city of Nineveh on the east bank, but the metropolitan area has now grown to encompass substantial areas on both banks, with five bridges linking the two sides.
