U.S. forces kill 2 suspected al-Qaeda gunmen, arrest 5 in Iraq

Iraq-Operations BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: U.S. forces killed on Tuesday two suspected al-Qaeda gunmen and arrested five others during operations throughout Iraq, the U.S. army said. “Coalition forces struck AQI’s foreign terrorist facilitation network Monday, killing two terrorists during an operation near Rawah, 212 km southwest of Mosul,” the army said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com. “A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded multiple rifles, three rocket-propelled grenade rounds, 12 grenades and a suicide vest,” it added. “Improvised explosive device and car bomb cells were also degraded during an operation in Mosul on Tuesday, which netted two men believed to be associated with the city’s car bomb and IED network leader,” it said. “Coalition forces continued to disrupt AQI leadership networks around the country Tuesday. In Baghdad, forces detained two men during an operation targeting AQI senior leadership,” “AQI leadership was the target of an operation in Baiji, about 160 km south of Mosul.
